  5. Two thermal Reactors and a successful refractory installation case study

On behalf of IRISNDT, I’d like to invite you to join our Live Event series on “Doing More with Less: Optimizing Inspections and Non-Destructive Testing Technologies.” At IRISNDT, we are keen to share our knowledge of specialized non-destructive applications and our mechanical integrity insights with you. With these Live Events, we intend to connect with the inspection and mechanical integrity community.

Our third Live Event will involve Oscar H. Thackery, who has over 30 years in the petrochemical, refinery, power and oil & gas industries working on multiple projects both internationally and domestically with emphasis on refractory. Oscar will overview a successful refractory case study of the recent replacement of two thermal Reactors (SRU’S) at a major US refinery. The previous units in operation were problematic and high maintenance. The refinery asked IRISNDT to perform the quality assurance for all matters related to the refractory lining. The majority of time on this project was spent optimizing installation inside the vessels: making sure the refractory lining installation met best-practice standards and followed both the customer specifications and API standards. The result? The customer had peace of mind that the end products would give them both performance and reliability in service for many years.
