The oil and gas industry expends significant effort in keeping well casings fit for service.1,2 The effort is needed since well casings are exposed to highly corrosive gases, wet and dry cycles, and variable temperatures – all demanding conditions for the materials used in wells.  Leaking casings can result in environmental damage, water contamination and even uncontrolled fires.  To keep the casings operating reliably, they are inspected routinely for metal and integrity losses.  As part of this effort, IRISNDT inspects intermediate well casings visually and with short-range laser scanners after they are exposed and media blasted.  The IRISNDT engineering team:
