#IPEIA –Pressure Equipment Reliability needs the Collective Knowledge of the Community

While viewing the excavation shown in the picture, I noticed water gushing out several feet beneath where I was standing. Asking the site personnel, I found out that the water was from an intermittent underground stream, which may be why the flow was not noticed until my last day on the job. I thought I had identified the main reason why the tanks had floated, but, after seeing the underground stream, we had to take further measures to prevent another surprise. After presenting this case during the 2019 API INSPECTION AND MECHANICAL INTEGRITY SUMMIT, I heard from several attendees that my experience was far from unique. Would you like to know the rest of the story? If you are attending the 2019 IPEIA CONFERENCE, this case will be presented, along with other tank tales, during the afternoon of Wednesday February 27.

Ali Abari from the IRISNDT Calgary office will be presenting his work on “Valve Manufacturing: Inconsistencies between Common Practices and Code Requirements” IRISNDT will also be highlighting company services at booth #56. Finally, IRISNDT has organized a workshop on “Reducing Dangerous Confined Space Personnel Entry with Robotics” scheduled for Wednesday, February 27 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM.
