Rope Access Adjustable Truss – Powerful Sphere Maintenance Tool

IRISNDT’s Rope Access personnel installed a certified adjustable truss assembly inside a sphere to access and evaluate all the sphere welds. Along with the inspections, our personnel kept direct communication with Fitness for Service experts. They had to ensure the isolated areas were not ground below T min, and they also had to collect the correct information for fitness for service calculations. Scaffolding would have made the repair costs prohibitive; only using rope access technologies were the repair costs reasonable. The work was so successful that we immediately worked on a 2nd sphere with the same evaluation methods, crew, and truss assembly.
