IRISNDT opens new offices in Texas City, Texas and Corpus Christi, Texas

IRISNDT and Matrix Inspection & Engineering have opened offices in Texas City, Texas and Corpus Christi, Texas. This will allow better access to the Petrochemical Plants and Refineries within those areas.

Matrix Inspection (UK) starts tube inspection service

Matrix Inspection (UK) Ltd. has started a tube inspection service. The leader for this new venture is Luis Bello who has previously worked for Matrix Insepction & Engineering in Houston, Texas.

Matrix UK opens in Stockton-on-Tees

Matrix Inspection (UK) Ltd has announced the opening of its office in Stockton-on-Tees. This recently formed UK company offers a range of specialized inspection services including acoustic emission, automated ultrasonic and guided wave testing.

Matrix Inspection became part of the IRISNDT group in 2004 and started the UK operation in January 2006 with the aim of supplying specialist ultrasonic and acoustic emission testing services direct to clients in the UK and Europe.

Matrix Inspection UK offers the full range of specialist inspection services and expertise encompassed by the IRISNDT group. Services supplied by specialist inspection personnel and equipment based at the Stockton-on-Tees office include the following:

• Guided wave pipe inspection with the new GUL G3 system. This system is said to be the most advanced of its type and also workds with the newly developed tube (T-Scan) inspection probes.
• Automated ultrasonic scanning for corrosion mapping, weld inspection and time-of-flight diffraction (TOFD). The scanner and instrumentation is flexible enough to allow simultaneous scanning with multiple probe sets including combined phased array and TOFD scans.
• Phased array ultrasonic testing both manual and automated.
• Acoustic emission testing covering a wide range of applications including pressure equipment, composites and remote online monitoring.

New Deer Park, Texas Office

IRISNDT Inc. announces the opening of our Deer Park, Texas office in October 2005. This office, just east of Houston, is ideally situated to serve the areas refinery & petrochemical industries. Along with our office on Brittmoore Road on the west-side of Houston, and our subsidiary Matrix Inspection & Engineering Inc., IRISNDT provides quality nondestructive testing & materials engineering services to customers throughout the greater Houston area. Heading the Deer Park office is Kevin Wieland, who has served IRISNDT in various senior positions since 1989.

Phased Array Equipment

IRISNDT personnel are now inspecting as-fabricated and in-service welds with phased array ultrasound. This groundbreaking industrial ultrasonic technology uses many different angles of sound to inspect welds. Phased array technology allows IRISNDT to acquire computerized images and inspection records of welds at greater speeds than are typically possible with conventional ultrasonic inspection techniques. Our modern phased array systems are battery operated, computerized, and light enough that they are hand carried and placed next to the piping and vessels. Asset Management Group

IRISNDT Corp. has formed a new group within our Specialty Services division; "Asset Management". This group will assist our customers in managing the risks associated with pressure equipment in the oil and gas industry. The group's focus is to work with our customers' Chief Inspectors to implement inspection programs aimed at the continued safe use of pressure vessels, boilers and pressure piping. Other areas this group will be involved in include management of pipeline and facility construction projects, repair supervision, installation inspection of vessels and boilers and to assist our customers to comply with the jurisdictional Acts and Regulations.

This new department officially starts on February 01, 2006. Joining IRISNDT to head up this group is Dennis Simons, who brings with him 30 years of experience in the operation, inspection, maintenance and installation of boilers, vessels and pressure piping. Dennis as worked as a Boiler Inspector in Yukon, Saskatchewan and Alberta (ABSA), and has served as a chief Power Engineer in high pressure power plants, in-house Chief Inspector for an oil and gas company, contract Chief Inspector for several client oil and gas companies. He has worked with many companies to promote the safe use of boilers, pressure vessels and pressure piping throughout western Canada. Joining Dennis in this group initially will be Carlo Flores, Siu Lun Alan Lee, Kevin Potter & Curtis Sinclair.
