IRISNDT has been serving the oil and gas, petroleum and petrochemical, chemical, power generation, and pipeline industries since 1953. Our Canadian operations currently provides services from Edmonton, Calgary, Nisku, Lloydminster, Cold Lake, Fort McMurray, Barrhead, Red Deer, Medicine Hat, High Level and Rainbow Lake, Alberta. The United States operations provide services from Houston, Corpus Christi, and Texas City, Texas, and Tulsa, Oklahoma. The United Kingdom operations provide services from Stockton-on-Tees.

We are a diversified FULL-SERVICE Nondestructive Testing and Materials Engineering Company, owned and operated by NDT personnel, with a focus on utilizing our abilities and training to minimize our customers' NDT and operating costs.

As one of the largest independent NDT companies in North America, we have expanded our business from basic NDT services to advanced NDT technologies including automated ultrasonics, pipeline integrity, materials engineering/laboratory, software development and data management.

  • State-of-the-art equipment and technology. We have been successful because we upgrade our technical capabilities continually. We cannot minimize our customers' NDT costs without utilizing the best equipment for the job.


  • Employee Training. Continuous education is an IRISNDT policy. We utilize almost exclusively full-time permanent employees who work only for IRISNDT. We provide a continuous training initiative program. We keep our technicians up to date on new techniques, latest technologies, and on NDT fundamentals.


  • At our IRISNDT US operations we have implemented a comprehensive NDT training program which exceeds the training hours required by ASNT SNT-TC-1A and by CGSB. Our training program allows us to train our newly hired employees in the classroom, lab, and on the job. This ensures that only properly trained, qualifed NDT personnel are working for us. This new approach to NDT training introduces our employees to the "Real World" of NDT in a meaningful way and reduces the possibility of having inexperienced personnel within our organization.


  • Customer Training. Many of our customers perform NDT tests and visual examinations in-house and/or have the need to evaluate NDT test results. In order to help our customers meet this need, we also provide customized short course training programs at our facilities and/or at the customers location.


  • Leadership in safety and environmental practices. Our safety program exceeds industry standards and regulatory authority regulations, and is accredited. In 2006 our safety record placed us as one of the top 10 inspection companies in Alberta.

IRISNDT has always adopted a simple culture: "Think Simple, Take Care Of Our Customers and Take Care Of Our People". We have always adapted this philosophy and continuously work hard at it. We have built this business on credibility and reputation, which has only been achievable by retaining long-term customers and employees. Our product is our people.

Our culture and strategy is communicated to all employees on a regular basis. For example, every branch and department meets every month to discuss safety, quality, and up-coming work schedules. Our technicians are audited on a regular basis to ensure procedure and policy compliance, but more importantly to communicate and provide feedback that is positive and also constructive when necessary. The senior management team meets (as a minimum) twice per year with branch management to review our accomplishments, strengths, weaknesses and opportunities. This interaction has proven to be very successful as it allows everyone to provide input and understand our corporate visions.

Turnover at IRISNDT is minimal. The majority of our technicians have worked only for IRISNDT. They are typically trained out of high school, college or university and provided with the education and practical training at the expense of the company. In turn, we have developed talented and hard working individuals that share our vision:

  • 60% of our personnel have been IRISNDT employees for more than 5 years.
  • 35% of our personnel have been IRISNDT employees for more than 10 years.
